Home-school links
Parental involvement is a vital aspect of a child’s education. We have found that teachers feel that if there is no motivation or interest given by parents then students will not be able to gain as good as an education as possible.
“Thanks to our online information system we are in touch with the parents the whole time. Also the head class teachers are ready to contact the parents if necessary.” Dvorackova
“Sometimes parents just come to Parents Teachers Association and they want to know the marks, which is not enough. I think they should be interested in their behaviour and their personal development, especially with 8 year Gynasium.”
Marie Havlickova
“Lack of time of parents maybe, or less interest, I don’t know but it is surprising.”
“[Because grades are made available online] the parents receive more information, but it is not enough, the marks are not enough. Z Jugasova
“If the teacher, the student and the parent worked together and try to improve the work try to push the student to better results it could help [to improve assessment].” M Oplustilova
Outside Business
Gymnasium Zlin is the most academic form of high school education in the Czech Republic. Therefore, there is little to no involvement from outside businesses in the school.
“We don’t have any links with business because it’s not necessary for this type of school.” Dvorackova
Outside Agencies
“We cooperate with other schools for example universities and also with primary schools. We are able to organise field trips with organisations that would be beneficial for the students of whichever subject. “
Ja&My – a day when speakers from outside agencies and institutions take a day in the school to take lectures and talks of their own subjects. Talks on subjects such as addiction, first aid and finance are given to students. This allows the students to gain an insight into topics which are relevant to real life situations, but don’t come up in normal education.
